Enough time has passed (I hope) to allow me to look back with sufficient clarity to write the final part of this book.
Yes, because I find it very difficult, and it is no coincidence that I am writing these lines when the rest of the work has long since been drafted and, for the most part, also revised.
In taking stock of my relationship with an extraordinary person, two imperatives immediately arise: on the one hand, to thank that person for the happiness she gave me and the key role she played in my life; on the other, to make explicit my concern for her future, over which I see threatening clouds gathering, anything but fleeting.
I chose to include in this chapter also the most uncomfortable and, for me, unpleasant part: the bitter reality of what Miriam has become, because neither the love I still feel for her nor the concern for the path she has decided to take can erase her responsibilities.
